Your Prayers Are Needed

Charlie Matthews
And they are appreciated
A pastor friend of mine, Charlie Matthews, could really use some prayer. Charlie is senior pastor of Mason Vineyard Church (MVC). He has stepped up to the plate in helping this church grow, basically by re-planting the church coupled with much enthusiasm. From what I understand, MVC has experienced quite a bit of hardship. Recently, though, MVC has been fortunate to see God move in some really wonderful ways. The last time I talked to Charlie he was sharing with me the amazing things God was doing: intervening for the church, opening doors for a new building, making ends meet. Charlie was really pumped about the exciting opportunities God was creating. And to be honest, I have been excited for him. I am excited for anyone who wants to plant, or re-plant (which can be more difficult), a church and spread the Gospel.

Charlie, though, has been hospitalized since Monday, October 5th, with double pneumonia. This double pneumonia has turned into Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome. He’s very sick but thankfully surrounded by family and friends. Charlie’s progress has been much like a roller-coaster ride to say the least. He’s been heavily sedated with multiple attempts to bring him off sedation and ventilation. So far, attempts have been unsuccessful, but this does not mean it cannot be done. It just means it could take a while.

Charlie has an immediate family and a church family he is blessed with. I am asking that you say a prayer for this man. Pray that he will fully recover and return to being husband and dad to his family. Pray that upon his recovery God works through this situation and brings about a testimony to His power and grace. Pray that Charlie’s recovery renders a renewed excitement to spread the Gospel. Pray for Charlie’s family to be strong and trust in Jesus. Pray for the doctors to have special insight and wisdom into Charlie’s situation.

God can do wonderful things upon the request of His children. Let us trust in God’s ability to work out all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Charlie most certainly fits this description. For more information regarding Charlie’s progress, click here.

If you decide pray for Charlie, you will be appreciated by many, many people. God bless.
