Invoking the Blessings of God

Bless Me Oh God!
Oh, the blessings of God! Oh, the pleasure of favor! Oh, how we long to call down the blessings of God upon our lives! After all, we are doing good, right?

“Invoking the Blessings of God”; At least it sounds like something encouraging, yes?

Well, this new series will explore the idea of what it means to invoke the blessings of God, or if it is something that can be done at all.

I had an interesting conversation with an individual that caused this stirring of the topic when he concluded that we can get God to bless us by doing good things. The conversation proceeded for about 20 minutes when I realized that this is something many of us struggle with. God blesses me for my obedience, right?

Therefore, I will address the following issues:
1. What are the blessings of God?
2. Who receives the blessings of God?
3. Can we invoke God’s blessings?
4. Why does God bless people after all?

Through this study, the desire is to understand God’s purpose in blessing people and how attitude toward God’s blessings ought to be. Ultimately, this will help the follower of Christ fall more in love with Jesus and the unbeliever to have a better understanding of God’s love for them. This should be fun!
