Recently, I’ve been reading “The Hole in Our Gospel” by Richard Sterns, President of World Vision.
I will be giving a review for this book shortly. Actually, I ought to be finished with it, but have chose to focus my energy elsewhere. Reading it, though, has caused me to think a lot about my position in the world and my responsibility to it. The book is very informative in a relevant way.
For instance, learning some of what Sterns writes about has caused me to think of my own abundance. Now, if you would have said before I read some of this book if I had an abundance of possessions, I would have given you a well rounded answer—something like this: “Well, I know I have more than people in poor countries, but it’s not like I’m rich or anything.”
Lame
I have an abundance. It’s that simple. When it comes to the reality of what’s happening around the world to other humans—the Majority of humans—I am way up on the abundance scale. I have a safe place to live, clothing, food for Whenever I’m hungry, health, healthy children, a couple televisions, two vehicles, furniture, clean water, and on and on I can go.
So what am I going to do about it?
I don’t know—yet
I am unemployed, so I really do not have any income coming in. Heck, my unemployment benefits have stopped coming in, and I have filled out more applications than I ever have—add two more on top of that from today.
But that’s not an excuse; there must be something I can do. I will have to discuss it with my wife. This book has really got me thinking about my faith and what I am doing about it.
The review should be good
God bless.

If you live in America, you are rich!
You couldn't be more correct. What would WOF teachers do without America???
sell plasma. Then donate the rest
Great idea… then I could really go out in a "fade of glory."
Now consider: we consume more resources (namely, food products) than any other country on earth and have a virtual monopoly on agricultural goods including land, packaging, processing and marketshare. American agribusiness has all but taken over the world! It is our duty as Christ-followers to defend the poorest of the poor. The only way for them to be able to support themselves is with subsistance farms, small-scale farms and a profitable market. I say lets help them get there land back no matter what it takes and create for them a profitable maket. Self-sustaining ministries has the right idea..it just needs to be greatly expanded.
Do you have any resources to point others toward?
