Faith: Complete trust or confidence in someone or something
Have you ever wondered what faith is? According to the definition above (mac dictionary) it seems fairly simple to conclude the meaning of faith: trust. But is that all faith is? Surely everyone has the ability to trust, yes? And surely everyone has the ability to decide to not trust, correct?
In this series of posts we will be looking at the aspect of faith in relation to faith in God. This is an important topic to discuss because the idea of faith has been somewhat removed from its proper Biblical exegesis. While I am not opposed to evangelicalism, its modern movement may have been a huge contributor to the removal of the understanding of authentic Christian faith.
The church has somehow adopted the idea – and taught it for that matter – that a person has the full ability to come to Christ on their own willing, upon the strength of their own faith, and receive the salvation due them. It is SortingBeans’s position that, while the person has abilities to trust, he is unable to provide for himself the faith that is required for salvation in Christ; the power that is necessary to embrace God in Christ. The end-all conclusion to the transformation of an individual, from death to life, is this: Who gets the glory?
