Eat Without Ceasing

And have it biggie sized.

Many of us have busy lives and hectic schedules. I can certainly vouch for that.

People have jobs, families, side jobs, school, organizations, and other parties they are committed to.

As a personal commentary to this, I am a husband, dad, college student, have ministry commitments at church, write on this here blog, write on that there blog, and oh yeah follow Jesus.

We’ve all got our lives to manage, and at times it can be a lot to manage. Especially the unnecessary things we add to our lives.

In other words: It’s tough to be responsible!

So how do we (“I”) deal with this?

We eat it!

That’s right. We eat it.

We eat the Big Mac‘s in our cars while we drive.

We eat while we watch T.V.

We eat while we have conversations.

We eat when we are alone.

We eat while we read.

We eat when we are bored.

And for anything else I didn’t cover, we eat then also.

And boy am I guilty of this.

That is why I am going to plead with God to help me love my self enough to treat me properly.

And by me loving myself, I might learn a little more of how to love others (Matt. 22:37-39).

And there is even a bigger, selfish reason for all of this

I don’t want man boobs.

No offense to those who do, but I just don’t want any. Thank you.

    1. Eating is it.
A couple years ago I had an issue with taking too much Ibuprofen to kill a migraine. Ended up going to hospital because it was tearing up my stomach something bad. Now, when I do not eat well for days on end, my stomach hurts worse than usual. I really need to take care of myself.

    2. Hi Jonathan, It is interesting that you post this today, I am also thinking of how much of my eating is for the sake of eating rather than because I am actually hungry. I have resolved to try to wait until I have been actually feeling hungry for half an hour before I eat. So far this is having the effect of freeing up time because I am less focused on food and am trying to let that feeling of wanting to be filled prompt me to think about God more.

      • Greetings MIke!

Yes, just an extra 30 minute to 1 hour wait can do wonders. But in that time it can feel like your starving. But we know this is not the case; we've conditioned our bodies to desire that amount of intake.

    3. I don't want those nasty little things either! Or the pot belly!

    4. Eating…oh boy, one of my worst problems. I grew up in desperate dumpster-diving poverty, so the programming to choke down everything on my plate runs very deep. Even after all these years, I struggle with an appetite that isn't matched by my metabolism. Gluttony crouches at the door at all times, and the temptation of have another slice of pie I don't need is always sitting on my shoulder. Overeating can be as powerful an addiction as any other.

I'm with you on this one, dear! Toss away the fast food and turn to healthier fare! We pack our own lunches when we go on long road trips. Besides being healthier, it's also a LOT cheaper. And best of all, it gives you an opportunity to slow down and enjoy God's Creation while picnicking, instead of cramming that Big Mac down at 70 miles an hour. :-)

      • Confession: I had a whopper jr. today.

        • Better a Jr. than a Triple-Meat Cheeseburger with bacon…
