Christians are the people who profess Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

stubborn

They are the ones who believe that the Bible is God’s written word to mankind. They are the ones who think that everything we need to depend on for our existence is found in God and is from God. They are the ones who believe that sovereign grace is a blessing. They are the ones who believe that complete forgiveness is actually attainable in the Son of God: Jesus. Because of this, they have no condemnation (Rom. 8:1).

Because they believe in these things, they hold fast to the fact that we are more than merely cosmic dust floating in the universe. They believe that there is actually a purpose to our existence and believe that searching out that purpose is the greatest endeavor anyone could possibly do; because what is found as a result of this search is that fearing God and enjoying Him forever by obeying His commandments is what man’s purpose is (Ecc. 12:13). Not only do they find this truth, they take comfort in it (Ps. 119:52). But does the Christian do this all alone?

No.

The Christian is not left alone; no, he has a helper (John 16:7). This helper guides him in all truth (John 14:6). This helper convicts him in matters of sin (John 16:8), and reminds the Christian whose they are (John 15:26). Not only does the Christian have this great promise, but he also has the assurance of salvation (John 10:29)! This means that Christians will live forever with their Lord! Since no one can change what the Father has purposed (Job 42:2), the Christian finds great comfort in this. And in Jesus, the Christian can do all things (Phil. 4:13)!

Question

Why, then, does the Christian try to take control again? Why does he revert to is former self, as if he has forgotten from where he has came? Why does she ignore the clear teachings of her Lord and act presumptuously? Why do they give in to sin and not into grace? Why do they leave their Bible’s to collect dust and settle for a T.V. show? Why do they worship food more than they do Jesus? Why do they worship hobbies more than they do Jesus. Why do they give agenda more rule than the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter?

I know why

Because Christians are stubborn.

My name is Christian, and I am stubborn.

Who will save us from our wretched bodies of death? Thanks be to our Lord and Savior Jesus (Rom. 7:24-25)!
