Non-Muslems: Be Informed

Are You There Yet?

That’s the question I think many of you have wondered.

Honestly, it’s the question I have wondered also. “Am I there yet?”

That is, have I finally gotten over my blogging funk? I’m not sure.

Thing is, I really want to write. I have ideas to talk about, but that’s just it—I want to talk about them.

I love me some good conversation.

I’ll find myself talking with my friends about inspiration, interpretation, theology, life, culture, etc. I seem to do just fine in conversation, and in reality, I like it better that way.

So when it comes to writing, I’m really not sure why I’m so stagnant. I do, however, have a few ideas as to why.

  1. I was overwhelmed with writing papers for school.
  2. Life was very, very busy.
  3. I was doing some editing in my book.

Of all the writing for school I had to do, I was kind of burned out. Actually, I dropped one class just so that I could do well at my other classes.

Lately, I’ve Been Hit

With lots and lots of writing.

I just went through a class called “Life of Christ,” but was really an “Introduction to the Gospels.”

We really didn’t get into the life of Christ much, but we covered some amazing topics leading up to the life of Christ and the writing of the Gospel accounts.

We talked a lot about different types of criticism, such as source criticism, form criticism, and comparison. Our text material for this was Jesus and the Gospels by Craig Blomberg. Great book!

We also got to read through The Harmony of the Gospels. But one of my favorite books we read through in that class was The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey. That’s a really good read.

There were lots of good stuff in that class, and I’m surprised I wrote at ALL on this website during that time.

In just six weeks, I wrote 78 pages of assignments and final papers, and 12 pages of notes!

That’s why last week I had three guest writers. Their posts were really, really good. You need to read them. Right now. Go do it. They are the last three posts.

So, as much as I have loved that class, boy am I glad to be finished.

What’s coming up next?

And I am the one who broke it.

I love listening to sermons. Actually, I have 13 podcasts that I update and listen to regularly via iTunes. I sometimes listen to other resources, but these are the main people I listen to. They are:

  • Acts 29 Network Sermons (Multiple)
  • Desiring God Sermon Audio (John Piper)
  • Grace to You: Pulpit Podcast (John McArther)
  • Just Thinking (RZIM)
  • Let My People Think (RZIM)
  • Mars Hill Church: Mark Driscoll Audio
  • NAMB Church Planting Group Podcast
  • National New Church Conference
  • Passage Church Podcast
  • Renewing Your Mind with R.C. Sproul
  • Stand to Reason Weekly Podcast
  • Truth for Life Broadcast (Alister Begg)
  • The Village Church – Sermon Audio
  • I used to have many more, but I realized I only listened to these frequently.

    Crunch Time

    Crunch Time!

    That’s right, I crunch.

See, I knew this week I would be off work. Also, I’m on break from College.

So what that means is that I do the responsible thing: I put aside all my homework and wait until the week after Christmas to do all my assignments. Right?

I should be easy enough. I’ve got a week. Read more

    Big Questions From Little People

    Children in Jerusalem.

And my daughters hashed some out to me.

The other night, while I was reading bedtime stories to my children, they began to ask me questions about eternity. They know what happens to people when they die if they believe in Jesus, but I have not spent much time explaining the other end to them. I have done this intentionally. My oldest is only six years old. There’s no way I want them focusing on a subject as intense as hell. So, I figured when they would reach a certain age, or when they ask, I would just spill the beans!

They did. They asked. I answered.

So It’s That Time Again, eh?

    Twin Pumkins

    Are you hesitant on participating?

Well, I could understand if you are. I have talked to quite a few people who believes that Halloween is of the devil and Christians are participating in the occult if they participate in Halloween. Then there are those who do not necessarily think so. What ever position you take, I would like to say a bit about it all. Just a bit, though.

    What power does it hold?

If halloween is the participation of pagan worship, then it must hold some intrinsic power, right? Read more

    It’s Been A Rough Week

    Illness, Yuk!

And the weekend is sounding better even as I write this sentence.

Some of you may know this, but for those of you who don’t, I have finally found a job that pays more than $9.00-10/hr. I think this economy buzz causes people to not want to spend or hire, even when it IS safe. So, finding a job has been rather difficult. I started this Monday at a place that installs office furniture for commercial businesses. It’s not the desired job, but it renders that commodity we all like having: money (is money a commodity?).

I get to meet some new folks, hopefully create some relationships, and possibly even share the Gospel. Actually, I was able to do that with a person on my first day! I had no intentions on talking to this person about Jesus (just because it was my first day), but it came up and we talked about it! That was really cool, but what hasn’t been cool is the fact that I’ve been sick for about a week now. Read more

    5:30 AM Comes Early!

    Yikes! Coal Mining!

Especially when you’re used to sleeping until 9!

Well, at least that’s about what my sleep schedule has been the past 5-6 months or so. You see, many of you know I have been looking for work (since February!) and that I have had a very difficult time trying to find it. Recently, I’ve been going through an interview process with a furniture installation company. They install furniture for commercial businesses.

I’m really not wanting this kind of job, but it’s better than coal mining! Read more

Please Have a Seat and Fill Out This Form

    Job Application

Man, I’m sure glad Heaven won’t be like this!

Many of you know I have been searching for work. Lately, I have been filling out applications. I recently filled one out for loss prevention. In this online application, I had to answer 65 questions as part of the application process. 65! Some applications take even longer! And you know what is more irritating about it? After you sit through 20-40 minutes of answering irrelevant questions, you never receive contact as was promised. Never. Ever. Never ever. Read more
