No. Please speak louder.
Lately I’ve been able to have some good conversations with a guy I’ve been working with.
In these conversations, we talk about work, our families, our interests, the Bible, theology, philosophy, and how disadvantageous it is to pack fiber bars into our lunches.
(I’ll let that one sink in)
There are probably a few other categories that I missed.
One thing we were talking about that has led to some really good conversation is the idea of our calling.
That’s right. What is our calling?
More specifically, what is our calling as Christians?
Is it to be employees of our companies? Is it to build businesses? Is it to be healthy? Is it to prosper? Is it to have a happy life? Is it to be a parent? Is it to be a friend? Is it to be victorious? Is it to be confident?
Is it to be a leader?
What is it already!?
I think I can tell you what it is not: It is not first and foremost any of the aforementioned.
I think many of us—I certainly have—get too hung up on what our specific “calling” is in this life.
We search for it like a health fanatic searches for every conceivable vitamin on God’s green earth.
But I think a lot of this searching is useless.
There’s something better to strive for, something better to add to our lives, a more excellent way.
But what is it?
I’m afraid that if we don’t get it, we will find ourselves in a continuum of discontent.
And discontent leads to frustration.
And frustration leads to pointing fingers.
But we don’t want that to happen. . . you could poke somebody’s eye out!
As I prepare an article to specifically address this issue, I want to hear from you.

First and foremost, my calling is to make disciples…something I've recently refocused on. We are to be messengers with the gospel of Jesus Christ, where ever we are placed.
Not sure about this, but would it help to differentiate between "calling" and "vocation"? Calling is something you are to be, vocation is something you are to do (while being what you were called to be).

Daniel, you have perceived my motive. That is, to secretly probe for a differentiation between calling and vocation.
We don't hear that word "vocation" any more. I plan on posting more about what we are first and foremost called to. And (please bare with me in patients) I do not believe it is to make disciples. You touched on this at the end of your comment.

My calling is……………………….heck I dont know? to be a friend?
I bet you are very hesitant on answering this question considering your background in WoF.
One day I asked God just what do you want of me? And He said to love Him with all my heart, soul, strength and might and to love others as I love myself. I still fall so short.
Sandy, I think we are always going to fall short. But isn't it amazing how God comes to our side and never leaves us alone?
